For us, sustainability isn't a marketing term — it shows in concrete, verifiable measures. Here's an overview of our certifications and what's really behind them.
Certifications
- GreenSign Hotel — an internationally recognised sustainability seal that assesses ecological, social and economic performance (certificate as PDF)
- BioHotels.de — member since March 2022, a Europe-wide network of hotels with certified organic quality
- ABCert organic certification — documents the controlled use of organic food at breakfast (certificate as PDF)
- Bavarian Environmental Pact — a voluntary initiative of the Free State of Bavaria for environmentally conscious business
- DEHOGA classification — official hotel classification for quality and transparency
Energy & water
We rely on 100% certified green electricity and a solar thermal system supporting our hot water, in operation since 1996. Motion sensors and light sensors ensure energy-efficient operation. Water-saving fittings and descaling technology reduce consumption, complemented by ecologically biodegradable cleaning products and certified natural cosmetics in the rooms.
Resources & waste
Our breakfast buffet follows the principle that "small portions guarantee freshness and reduce food waste" — we deliberately avoid single-portion packaging. A digital guest folder and largely paperless processes round out the concept; our goal is to operate completely paper-free by 2027.
Carbon footprint
For 2025, we had our operational greenhouse gas balance audited according to the internationally recognised Greenhouse Gas Protocol standard (Wiesler Sustainegy, Titisee, as of 19 April 2026). The result: 75.2 tonnes CO₂e total emissions, equivalent to 7.8 kg CO₂e per overnight stay — rated "very good" (under 10 kg) by the independent assessment. Around 39% of emissions fall under Scope 1 (mainly fuel), 0% under Scope 2 thanks to our 100% certified green electricity, and the rest under Scope 3 (including purchased food and staff commuting).

Mobility & arrival
Two public EV charging stations are available in our car park. We're centrally located on the Main cycle path and encourage climate-friendly arrival by train, bus or bicycle ("Green Arrival").
Biodiversity
Through a flowering-meadow sponsorship at the geographical centre of Europe, we support a near-natural flowering area and insect-friendly habitats right in the region — plus a permeable, unsealed car park and plenty of untouched green space around the house.
Social commitment
Many of our staff have been with us for over 5, 10 or even 35 years — often family members too. We regularly offer school work placements and a dual study place in tourism management. For our 40th anniversary in July 2025, we donated €4,000 to four local Veitshöchheim institutions: the youth division of the volunteer fire brigade, the library at the train station, a primary school for traffic safety education, and the public music school.
