When can I check in and when do I need to check out?
Check-in is guaranteed from 3 pm, and after a phone call, late check-in is possible until 6 pm on your arrival day. Check-out is until 11 am, a later check-out is possible on request — Literature Club members may even check out until 12 noon on Sundays.
Is there parking at the hotel?
Yes, the hotel has its own permeable, unsealed car park with two public EV charging points. Further free parking is available around 50 metres away, right on the Main.
How can I cancel my booking free of charge?
Direct bookings can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before arrival. Individual terms apply for groups and special rates. The best conditions are available for direct bookings.
Is the hotel wheelchair accessible?
The building has a lift, though it is not step-free on every floor. The hotel entrance itself is only reachable via stairs — so the hotel is not fully wheelchair accessible. If you have questions about accessibility, please contact us in advance; we're also happy to help with luggage.
How far away is the nearest train station?
The regional station on Echterstraße is just a 5-minute walk away. Würzburg's main station is also reachable by bus in under 20 minutes.
Are there bus connections to the surrounding area?
Yes, the nearest stop (Kirchplatz) is about a 2-minute walk away — from there you can reach Würzburg's city centre in around 20 minutes. You'll find the timetable to Würzburg in our information area at the hotel.
Are there boat trips on the Main nearby?
Yes, the landing stages for Main river cruises are just a 2-minute walk from the hotel.
When is reception open?
Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 7 pm, on weekends and public holidays from 7:30 am to 7 pm.
Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?
Yes, we're happy to store your luggage for you.
Is there an emergency number outside reception hours?
Yes, a 24-hour emergency number is posted at the entrance door as well as at reception.
Can I borrow a charger?
Yes, you can borrow a charger at reception on request.

How many rooms does Hotel am Main have?
35 individually furnished rooms in the categories Standard, Comfort, Superior and Family, plus literary Author's Rooms.
Is WiFi included in the room rate?
Yes, free WiFi is available in all rooms and public areas.
Are pets allowed at the hotel?
Yes, dogs are welcome on request and subject to availability, for a fee of 15 € per day — on a lead, and by arrangement also in the breakfast room. On request, we provide a dog set with a mat, bowl, walk tips and an organic treat.
Is a cot available?
Yes, we provide a cot free of charge on request.
Is the hotel smoke-free?
Yes, all rooms and indoor areas at Hotel am Main are non-smoking.
Are there allergy-friendly rooms?
Yes, if requested early enough before arrival, we offer allergy-friendly rooms, subject to availability — generally with parquet flooring.
Do the rooms have a bathtub or a shower?
Our Superior Rooms have a bathtub, all other room categories are equipped with a shower.
Do the rooms have carpet or parquet flooring?
It varies by category: some rooms have carpet, others parquet. Our allergy-friendly rooms generally have parquet.
Is there a coffee or tea set in the room?
Our Superior and Comfort Plus rooms include a coffee and tea set in the room rate. In all other categories, it can be added for a surcharge of 6 € per night.
Are extra pillows and blankets available?
Yes, our pillow cupboard on the ground floor has blankets and pillows in various options.
Are toiletries such as shampoo or soap provided?
Yes, we provide shampoo and soap. Toothpaste and other products are available at reception.
Are there multi-bed rooms?
Yes, our Superior and Family Rooms can be extended with an extra bed. The Family Room offers space for up to 6 people.
What are the rates for children and teenagers on an extra bed?
Children up to 12 years cost 20 € per person and night, teenagers up to 18 years 30 € per person and night, an additional adult 50 € per night. Children under 4 stay free in their parents' bed.
What is an Author's Room?
Our Author's Rooms are individually designed themed rooms, inspired by well-known writers such as Goethe, Kafka or Rumi — a special experience for book lovers.
Breakfast
What are the breakfast times?
Mondays 6:30 to 10 am, Tuesday to Friday 6 to 10 am, weekends and public holidays 7:30 to 10:30 am.
Is breakfast organic-certified?
Yes, our breakfast is certified under the German organic catering regulation by ABCert AG. The hotel has also been a member of BioHotels.de since March 2022.
Are there vegan, gluten-free or lactose-free options at breakfast?
Yes, we offer vegan as well as gluten- and lactose-free options at the breakfast buffet, and the plant-based selection keeps growing.
What does the breakfast buffet include?
A generous organic breakfast buffet with regional, homemade and vegan products.
Can you have breakfast outside in summer?
Yes, in fine weather you can enjoy your breakfast on the terrace in the chestnut garden with a view of the Main.
Can groups have breakfast together?
Yes, on request and subject to availability, we're happy to reserve a table for your group.
Literature Club
What is the Literature Club and what does membership cost?
The Literature Club is our free, loyalty programme that can be cancelled at any time, offering discounts on stays, drinks in the library and readings at the hotel.
Do I need to have stayed at Hotel am Main before to join the Literature Club?
No, the Literature Club is open to everyone, even before your first visit.
Literature & Art
What does it mean to be a literature hotel?
For us, everything revolves around books, inspiration and culture: our library, literary Author's Rooms, readings and literary details throughout the house create a special atmosphere.
How often does the hotel host readings?
From October to March, we host readings with authors in our library roughly once a month.
Does the hotel have art exhibitions?
Yes, in the breakfast room we regularly show rotating exhibitions by regional artists — the works are also available for purchase.
Is there a guest lounge?
Our library invites you to relax: a large selection of books and newspapers, board games, a drinks fridge and a self-service coffee machine. Please note drinks on the list provided, along with your room number.

The hotel is GreenSign-certified, a member of BioHotels.de, ABCert organic-certified for breakfast, a participant in the Bavarian Environmental Pact, and officially DEHOGA-classified.

For Cyclists
What facilities are available for cyclists?
The Main cycle path runs right along the river, close to the hotel. We offer a lockable, covered bike area with an e-bike charging option right on site, and a drying room for wet clothing is available.
Where can I rent bikes nearby?
Just a few metres from the hotel, S&S Bikes rents bicycles and e-bikes.
